Abkhazia, officially the Republic of Abkhazia, is a partially recognised state in the South Caucasus. It sits on the eastern coast of the Black Sea, at the intersection of Eastern Europe and West Asia. It covers 8,665 square kilometres (3,346 sq mi) and has a population of around 245,000. Its capital and largest city is Sukhumi.

Abkhazia, a country that most of the world doesn't think exists, had an election that assumed most of its population didn't exist. Abkhazia is a self-declared republic that's trying to break from Georgia, and is currently recognised only by Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and, bizarrely, the tiny Pacific island of Nauru.

  1. It's not exclusively in the town. Nutella are trying to smash the cornering of the market, yeah, because they want a bit of variety in cases. Another frost, so they're moving into Georgia and Abkhazia, another traditionally very calm and politically easygoing region, which won't be. They're prey to a lot of local politics, basically. Every year, they have half a million tons of hazelnut shells to get rid of.

  3. I was, so for our book, which is coming out in November, I was reading about the world geopolitical situation. There's things happening in Georgia. There's elections in Abkhazia, where they're trying to get out of Georgia. While I was reading that, I came across this guy, and I can't believe I've never heard about him before. He's called Bidzina Ivanovili, and he's taking trees from around the country, and either driving them or putting them on a ship, and then taking them to his house and planting them.
