Bristol is a city and ceremonial county in South West England. It is located on the River Avon, and bordered by Gloucestershire to the north and Somerset to the south with a short coastline on the Bristol Channel to the west. Have you heard of Bristol's punctuation Banksy? He goes around just correcting poor punctuation. He has built himself a device he calls an apostrophizer, which is a very long handled bit of kit, which allows him to either cover over an apostrophe that shouldn't be there in a sign, or add one in if he needs an extra one.

  1. Yeah. Then back in the 18th century, you had someone called Princess Karabu, who was also from Devon. Okay. She turned up at someone's house near Bristol, speaking a fake language and said she was from somewhere in the east. Again, she was from Devon and she made the whole thing up. She was from, I looked into it, I spotted that as well today. She was from somewhere that is a 30 minute drive from where we are right now, a little place called Witheridge.

  2. Have you guys been about the Grammar Vigilantes? These are people who go around correcting signposts. They seem to happen in various countries. In Bristol, Bristol has the UK's leading grammar vigilante. He specialises in apostrophes. He began in 2003 when he saw a council sign which said open Mondays to Fridays, but with apostrophes in both of those words, which obviously is a painful experience. So he invented something called the apostrophizer, which is an eight foot long tool, which basically has an apostrophe stamp on the end so that he can reach the really high signs and insert the apostrophe.
