About Czechoslovakia

Czechoslovakia was a country in Central Europe created in 1918, as Czecho-Slovakia, when it declared its independence from Austria-Hungary. In 1938, after the Munich Agreement, the Sudetenland became part of Nazi Germany. Between 1939 and 1945, the state ceased to exist, as Slovakia proclaimed its independence and Carpathian Ruthenia became part of Hungary, while the German Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia was proclaimed in the remainder of the Czech Lands. In 1939, after the outbreak of World War II, former Czechoslovak president Edvard BeneΕ‘ formed a government-in-exile and sought recognition from the Allies.

It is amazing.

  2. This is really bizarre. It's a town called Schwarzenberg. It's near the border with what was Czechoslovakia. During the end of the war, both the Soviets and the American forces stopped outside, which is really strange because they had possibly miscommunicated about where everyone was going to stop their advance. It seems to have been the last independent bit of German territory that wasn't occupied by the Allied powers.

  3. He would wait in narrow and dimly lit alleys and courtyards, and upon seeing unaccompanied women, he would grab them, lift their dress, and slap their buttocks repeatedly before fleeing. He would sometimes accompany his attacks by shouting, Spanko! He sounds like a superhero. Spanko man. Yeah, in Czechoslovakia, he would have been a superhero. That would have been a really good thing for him to be doing, because the ladies love it there. They would have been like, where's Spanko? OK, time for our final fact of the show.
