They used to be much nicer. They changed that because one of Edison's assistants had a car. He nearly ran over someone in Newark and noted that his angel's harp noise of his horn didn't have any impact on the pedestrian. He realized that he had to have a much harsher sounding horn. It'd be quite nice ending if you did actually hit someone because they didn't see your car coming.
