The Royal Mint didn't say who was designing the coins. They had picked this guy, Christopher Ironside, and he had to do it in secrecy from 1962 all the way to 1968.

Other times Royal Mint came up
He was last victim of capital punishment in this country wasn't he? I discovered while reading about the Queen's Christmas broadcast that she is a podcast pioneer. Is she? Yeah. The Queen's speech was released as a podcast in 2006. Wow. Wow. We started in 2014. That's how distant it is and it's I haven't heard it but I assume it's the same as the speech but yeah it's not very long.

It's probably one of the two in the middle of it. Yeah. I can't remember which country though. It's really annoying. But the way they manufacture those is they get someone at the Royal Mint to swallow every single coin. Very hard to process. It's very hard to retrieve them at the end though, isn't it? It's horrible. It's like the worst fruit machine ever where the money comes out of the end but you're not really excited by it.

It's something like six out of ten UK 1 p and 2 p's, I only use once and then put in a jar. Then 1 in 12, the coins are thrown into the bin immediately. At one stage, the Royal Mint was having to make 500 million 1P and 2P coins every year to replace those that are going out of circulation. I do not believe anyone throws 1P coins into the bin.
